Reading By 3rd Grade

Outcomes

  •  The percentage of economically disadvantaged students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from 37% in spring of 2024 to 42% in spring of 2025. (To be revised to use fall of 2024 as the baseline and to reset the target for spring 2025.) 
  • The percentage of students who pass the Grade 3 Reading SOL will increase by 10 percentage points from spring 2024, for which it was 65.3% (unadjusted). to at least 75% (unadjusted) in spring 2025.

Strategies

  • Leverage use of daily, explicit language comprehension lessons from the new core curriculum for building knowledge and vocabulary.
  •  Improve daily, systematic, explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, and morphology by using the new core curriculum.
  •  Improve integrity of implementation of new core curriculum, English Language Development program, and/or intervention programs by using FCPS-adopted resources with fidelity.

Elementary School Math

Outcomes

  •  By the end of the 2024-25 school year the percentage of students with disabilities passing the G 3-6 Mathematics SOL will increase from 52 (unadjusted) % to 70% (unadjusted).
  • By the end of the 2024-25 school year the unadjusted percentage passing the G 3-6 Mathematics SOL will increase from 78% to 83%.

Strategies

  •  Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.
  • Increase formal collaboration between classroom teachers and ESOL teachers to develop the language of mathematics through the use of embedded strategies during whole group and small group instruction.
  • Increase students' self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.

Chronic Absenteeism

Outcome

By June 2025, our school will reduce its chronic absenteeism rate for students receiving special education service by 5 percentage points from 36% in June 2024 to 31% or less in June 2025.  

Strategies

  • MTSS Schoolwide and Site Intervention teams analyze attendance along with behavior and wellness data bi-monthly to identify students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Teachers will use a variety of culturally-responsive practices and communication methods to provide supportive outreach to students and families when student attendance concerns arise.
  • Schools will share multilingual attendance materials with families throughout the year to educate families regarding the importance of attendance for school success.
