A Falls Church Pyramid Message

Dear Falls Church Pyramid Families,

We are writing to you as your Pyramid Principals to share our sadness and outrage about the instances of racism and hate that have occurred in our country during the last few weeks, and over the course of time. These awful events are especially painful for our Black and African American community members.  We acknowledge this and want you to know that we see you and stand with you.  Racism and hate have no place in the world and no place in the Falls Church Pyramid.  The Falls Church Pyramid is a diverse community that we are proud to lead.

As principals and school staff, we will not sit silently, as these events cannot be ignored.  Rather, in these last few days of school, we have asked our teachers to talk with students about racism and why we have to stand up to racism and hate.

We will work together to identify ways to continue these important conversations with our staff and students next school year.  Our schools will also continue to receive professional learning on equitable and culturally responsive practices.  We are committed to furthering our learning in order to challenge racism and injustice while promoting inclusive school communities where diversity is valued.

Here are a few resources for families on these topics:

We wish you peace as we wrap up this school year, and we look forward to connecting with you soon.

Respectfully,

Ben Nowak, Falls Church High School

Hello Families,

This morning you will receive a message from your child's teacher about today's learning and activities that are specific to your child's classroom. Today's learning will not be live for the most part.

Today, staff will be receiving additional information from FCPS about next steps and configuring technology.  Teachers will also be in touch as soon as we know more about these next steps.  We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we all adapt and adjust to the changing conditions.  In all of FCPS, we want nothing more than to be engaged with your children online.

Thank you for the positive and encouraging messages many of you have sent to our teachers and staff.  These mean more than you can imagine at this time of being apart.
